My backyard has already been certified by the National Wildlife Federation, but my online site shows it as "not certified." How do I update this?
If you have already certified your backyard with National Wildlife Federation's Backyard Wildlife Habitat program and want to show your online site as "certified" follow these directions:
2. Select "log into your online profile" at the top right, and log in to your online habitat.
3. Scroll to the bottom of your BWH home page. There you will see an "Already certified?" section. Enter your NWF Backyard Wildlife Habitat certification number, then select "Verify." If you do not know your Backyard Wildlife Habitat certification number, enter "help."
Once NWF confirms that your habitat is an official Backyard Wildlife Habitat site, they will mark your habitat as "certified." This process may take up to four weeks.
NOTE: If you applied for Backyard Wildlife Habitat certification online, you do not need to enter your Backyard Wildlife Habitat number into the feature mentioned above. Your site will automatically be updated to reflect your certification status when we send your certification packet out, six to eight weeks from the date you certify online.
2. Select "log into your online profile" at the top right.
3. After logging in, select the Photo album tab.
4. Click on the image you would like to use for your home page, then check "Make this my Backyard Wildlife Habitat™ Home Page image," and select "Update."
2. Search the Field Guides or conduct a text search to locate a species to add.
3. From your search results, or the species account, select the button which reads "save to list." If you are not currently logged in to eNature, you will be asked to do so at this time.
4. When prompted to select the list to add the species to, select "Backyard Habitat." The species is then added to your online habitat Species List and will be viewable when you next view your online habitat.
If you ARE currently viewing your online habitat:
1. Select the Species List tab in your online habitat.
2. Locate the species in the eNature field guides by entering its name in the search box then selecting, "GO," or by accessing your Regional Field Guide.
3. From your search results, or the species account, select the button which reads "save to list."
4. When prompted to select the list to add the species to, select "Backyard Habitat." The species is then added to your online habitat Species List and will be viewable when you next view your online habitat.
Adding species from within the eNature Wildlife Lists feature:
Your BWH Species List can be viewed and edited using eNature's powerful Wildlife Lists feature.
When I created my online Backyard Wildlife Habitat site, I received a Wildlife List titled 'Backyard Habitat.' What is this?
When you first create an online Backyard Wildlife Habitat site, an empty species list for your habitat is automatically created and titled 'Backyard Habitat.' This list allows you to keep track of the species that you see in your habitat.
To add species to your online habitat -- visit the Species List tab in your online Backyard Wildlife Habitat site for complete instructions, or read the 'How to add species' FAQ above.
Whenever adding species to your online habitat species list, make sure to add them to the Backyard Habitat list. If you do not have any other Wildlife Lists, the 'Backyard Habitat' list will be the only selection available.
I tried to certify online, but I'm not sure if my submission was received. How can I find out if my certification went through?
The submission process may take several minutes. If we received your certification submission, you will immediately be sent an email congratulating you on your new Backyard Wildlife Habitat certification. If
you do not receive an email within 3 days, it may mean we did not receive your submission and you should try again.
I certified my habitat online, when can I expect to receive the NWF Backyard Wildlife Habitat certification packet?
The certification process takes six to eight weeks from the date we receive your certification submission. After that time, you will receive your NWF certification
packet with your personalized certificate and other resources.
I sent in a paper application to certify my yard as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat site. Do I need to create on online habitat site myself, or will you create one for me?
If you certified your yard by paper application, you will need to create your own online habitat site. You can get started here.
