Description Has dark plumage overall, with a striking white crown and white iris; in good light an iridescence can be seen on head and neck.


Dimensions Length: 13" (33 cm)


Habitat Sometimes seen in flocks.


Range Florida


Discussion Distinctive, mainly Caribbean species that is an Everglades and Florida Keys specialty. Typically nests on isolated mangrove islands and feeds on fruits of tropical shrubs and trees in woodlands on mainland.
