Description The Western Sulphur or Golden Sulphur (Colias occidentalis) is a butterfly in the family Pieridae found in North America. Its range includes the Pacific Northwest and parts of British Columbia.
Flight period is from late May until early July.
Wingspan is from 53 to 50 mm.
Larvae feed on Vicia spp., Lupinus spp., Lathyrus spp., and Thermopsis spp.
Dimensions 1 1/4-1 3/4" (32-44 mm).
Habitat Alpine & subalpine habitats, Arctic habitats, Cities, suburbs & towns, Forests & woodlands, Meadows & fields.
Range Plains, Alaska, Rocky Mountains, Northwest, Western Canada, California, Southwest.
