Family: Trochilidae, Hummingbirds view all from this family

Description Adult has violet crown, otherwise greenish upperparts and tail, and white underparts (latter feature unique among our hummingbirds); bill is dark-tipped and red. Juvenile is like adult, but with brownish underparts.

Dimensions Length: 3 3/4-4 1/2" (10-11 cm)

Range Southwest

Discussion Rare breeding visitor (mainly Apr-Aug) to mountain scrub, mainly in southeastern Arizona, and also regularly seen at feeders in Arizona; winters in Mexico, where it is widespread.
