Family: Phoenicopteridae, Flamingos view all from this family

Description Adult has pinkish plumage and a banana-shaped, black-tipped pink bill; in flight, wings reveal black flight feathers and reddish pink coverts; the neck and reddish legs are held outstretched. Juvenile has similarly unmistakable shape, but very pale pink plumage.

Range Florida, Southeast

Discussion Unmistakable long-legged, long-necked wetland bird. Common in Caribbean, but status in U.S. is mostly that of an escapee, although genuinely wild birds do sometimes join feral birds in Florida.
