Description Native perennial. Habit: prostrate & creeping, with long thin stems often formimg dense mats. Leaves: Simple, with small leafy outgrowth at the base, kidney shaped to round. Leaf edges are scalloped. Flowers: Minute white umbel, not compound.
Flower June-September.
Habitat Aquatic or semi-aquatic.
Range Eastern U.S. from South Carolina to Maine and into Canada, west to Minnesota and Arkansas.
Discussion Water pennywort is an endangered species in Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. Also known as: American marsh pennywort.
