Description Habit: native perennial herb or vine; trailing or twining, with hairy stem.

Leaf: alternate, oddly pinnate; 5-9 leaflets, elliptic, fuzzy.
Flower: white to pale pink, sweet pea-like, 0.5 in (12 mm) wide; in long loose cluster, to 6 in (15 cm) long, of 4-5 flowers.

Flower April to October.

Habitat Shaded or open, dry, sandy sites: sandhills, pine flatwoods, scrub, thickets, hammocks, wastelands, disturbed upland sites.

Range Native to Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

Discussion Also called Elliott's milkpea. This plant is an important food for bobwhites.
