Family: Asteraceae, Aster view all from this family

Description This woodland goldenrod, with erect, somewhat zigzag stems, bears small flower heads on short axillary stalks from the upper leaves. The plant is 8-48 in. tall with pointed, alternate, coarsely toothed oval leaves.

Habitat Sandy stream banks; rich woods.

Range Quebec to e. North Dakota, s. to Georgia mountains, Louisiana, and n.e. Kansas.

Discussion This goldenrod attracts butterflies.

Exposure Preference Partial sun.

Native Distribution Quebec to e. North Dakota, s. to Georgia mts., Arkansas & n.e. Kansas

Site Preference Sandy stream banks; rich woods

Soil Preference Various mesic soils.

Wildlife Value Attracts butterflies.
