Description Short and slender. Brown with greenish mottling. Bronze colored stripe on juveniles. 14-15 costal grooves.
Dimensions 7.6-11.4cm. (3-4 1/2")
Breeding July-August. 4-6 eggs laid in fir log. Female guards eggs.
Habitat Temperate forests particularly Douglas fir.
Range Sacamento through White Mountains, New Mexico.
Discussion Hides in rotting logs. Emerges after summer rains. Diet includes ants and beetles.
