Track Hind prints are about 1" (25 mm) long, with 5 toes; fore prints smaller, with 4 toes and with claw marks well defined.
Sign Best signs are large, fan-shaped mounds of excavated earth, often with entrance plug. In spring, "gopher cores": long coils of earth used to plug burrows in snow and left on ground after snow melts.
