Description A large, thickly-furred hare. Brownish above with black hairs in summer, white below. Grayish above in winter. Tail black top, pale below. Moderately long ears.

Discussion Native to Old World, introduced into Dutchess County, New York, in 1893, the European Hare is now found from the Great Lakes region east to New York and New England.
