Track Hindprints are 2-3" (50-75 mm) long, with less of a heel mark than cottontail's; foreprints smaller and rounder, placed behind paired hindprints when running, producing a distinctive set of 4 tracks.
Sign Trails worn between feeding and resting sites; scarred or freshly nipped prickly pear cactus or pale tufts of fur on thorns. Nesting forms are shallow scrapes (depressions), often beneath sagebrush or rabbitbrush.
Scat: Dark brown, slightly flattened spherical pellets about 1/2" (12 mm) in diameter.
