Marsh Rabbit Sylvilagus palustris

Track Hindprints are 3 1/2" (90 mm) long; foreprints smaller and rounder, usually placed behind paired hindprints when running, producing a distinctive set of 4 tracks. Alternating tracks are left when this species walks on its hindlegs leaving trail of small prints with 4 toes. Marsh Rabbit tracks (hindfoot about 3 1/2"/90 mm) are smaller than those of Swamp Rabbit (hindfoot about 4 1/4"/110 mm).

Sign Trails in marshy vegetation.
Scat: Droppings are small, round pellets, often left on logs.
