Description Multitrunked evergreen tree with a bushy growth form. Bark nonfibrous, exfoliating, thin; 1 cm. (0.4 in.) Foliage rich light green to green. Bark reddish brown with peeling and curling plates. Seed cones dark brown to gray, 20–32 mm. Seeds dark brown.

Diameter: 0.3-0.5 m. (1-1 1/2 ft.).

Habitat Mountains, Scrub, shrub & brushlands, Canyons & valleys.

cypress species. Tecate cypress is considered rare throughout its range.
Wood is generally durable and stable. Provides cover for mountain lions and golden eagles. Considered prime habitat for San Diego coast horned lizard.
