Description Short and stout with a short tail. Blackish/brown above with white flecks. Brown underside. 13 coastal grooves.
Dimensions Length: 7-10cm (3-3.5")
Breeding Burrows near breeding ponds. Breeds january through March. Eggs laid underwater on submerged twigs and underwater plants.
Habitat Pinewoods, open fields and lowland forests.
Range West coast particularly Virginia, North & South Carolina.
Discussion Mostly found beneath logs near breeding ponds. Larvae of the Tiger Salamander feeds on Mabee's Salamander larvae.
