Description Small brown body with long and narrow rostrum. Broadly distributed in southeastern United States, but rarely seen. Only long-tailed shrew in most of range.

Range Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Florida
Discussion Favors moister areas with dense ground cover, but can occur in pine woods and scrub habitats as well.
