Description Black/brown highly arched carapace. Convex vertebral scutes, red bar on each. Reddish-brown plastron.Males front feet have curved claws.
Dimensions 20.3-34cm. (8-13 3/8")
Breeding June-August. Eggs laid June-July.
Habitat Creeks, marshes, ponds, lakes and sloughs.
Range Florida peninsula and panhandle.
Discussion Herbivorous. Basks for long periods due to its thick shell.
