Description Large chipmunk with a bushy tail. Contrasting dorsal stripes are light gray and brown. Duller, but very similar to California Chipmunk. Edging on tail is buff-colored, not white like in the Long-eared Chipmunk. Darker on coast. .

Similar Species Distinguished from Townsend’s Chipmunk by having gray (not brown) cheeks.
