Camel spiders are more technically known as windscorpions. They're neither spiders nor scorpions; they are in a different arachnid order. Yes, they are scary looking and fast; but, unlike spiders and scorpions, they're not venomous. They do have powerful jaws and can inflict painful bites, but they will not do so unless picked up. There's a wonderful article on them in a recent issue of National Geographic.
