Brood X - 17 year locust

What happened to this years emergence of brood x. I have been anticipating the deafening hum of the 17 year locust and as of this date, none have been noticed. I can remember past 17 year cycles where there were locust all over the palce. Wonder if environmental pollution or some other phenomenon has prevented their emergence. Thank You Jim Kreitner

New York is pretty much out of the range of Brood X, which would explain why you haven't heard any. The brood in your area is Brood II, which will emerge next in 2013. Don't wait up.
