The words holluschickie and bachelor (with regard to fur seals) are synonymous, so "holluschickie bachelor" is redundant. I recommend a book called The Year of the Seal by Victor Scheffer; it's a very nice look at the life cycle of the Northern Fur Seal.

Incidentally, I used to be a guide on St. Paul Island, where Kipling's story, The White Seal, takes place. I spent many hours atop Hutchinson Hill watching the activity in the seal colony on the beach below. If you have any specific questions about the seals, just ask!
