Most flowering plants are dicotyledons. The embryo of dicotyledons have two small leaves, or cotyledons. Hence, the name. Leaves usually grow out from the stem on leaf stalks. Characterized by broad leaves with branching veins and complicated flowers, they are distributed by such means as wind, birds that eat the fruits, and hitching rides on animal fur.
